What is the shelf life of amoxicillin?

The shelf life of amoxicillin capsules is about 48 months from the date of manufacture. There are two problems here though: unless the product is date and time stamped with the manufacturing date (not all countries do), you cannot know when the clock has started to tick on any particular packet — it can take over 2 years to get from the manufacturer to a pharmacist.

The other problem is that this 48 months presupposes that the drug has always been stored at <25ºC, and this is also something on which you cannot count in some markets.
