- Well actually most AA degrees are meant to be transfered to another higher institution to earn a BA/BS degree! But sometimes if you have a job where a degree is not a requirement but a plus, it helps you out. The employer may favor you in the hiring rather that the canidate with only high school. But you should know that there are AAS degrees and some schools offer AOS degrees. These are associates degrees that prepare you for a career path. (Paralegal is one) But many are in the Healthcare field. Radiologists (X-Rays), Physical/Occupational Therapy Assistant, Health Information Management, Nursing (RN), Medical Sogography, Surgical Technician, and others are offered in community colleges around the country. All you need is that associates degree and you have a career. (But most health professionals need to take some kind of certification exam after they earn their degree before they can work in that field, and then they must continue their education regularly to maintain that certification)
