Most of this is true but I would like to add to the AH-1 Cobra discussion. The original Huey was the HU-1 and while it was in prototype they started to call it "Huey". In fact Bell out "HUEY" on the left pedal and "BELL" on the right.
But the Army named it the Iroquois.
Now Bell use to make airplanes and in WWII they had the Bell P-39 Cobra and the P-63 Kingcobra so they also had that name. When the Army wanted a dedicated attack helicopter Bell took their UH-1 and skinnied it up and made the AH-1 and called it the Huey Cobra and for some reason the Army took that name. To add to the name the Cobra had two guns on it's chin-turret which resemble .... fangs!
Oh, the original Blackhawk helicopter was taken from a prototype version attack helicopter of their Sikorsky's S-61/HH-3 but when they developed the S-70/H-60 Sikorsky pushed for the name Blackhawk.
