Do-timberwolves live in minnesota What should one do if surrounded by a pack of timberwolves?

Recently there has been some debate on what constitutes a timber wolf from a common gray wolf. The "Timber Wolf" now is defined as an endangered species and has several DNA differences compared to a northern gray wolf for instance. IF they are correct it would mean that chances are VERY slim any "real" timber wolves reside there. There are maps on wikipedia showing the theorized grounds timber wolves occupy.

This is of course not the issue. Clearly the thought of being systematically and efficiently killed by these amazing machines is the real hotspot... Basically it's a situation you don't want to be in ever.

Now it's my suspicion that the timer wolf got its menacing lore from locals in the North East of the US, and Border of Canada. A gray wolf that happened to be very large and skilled and had a terrible disposition attacked a person or some small town pets and got branded with the special term. From there on out, whenever you saw a large dark wolf - it was just another "timber wolf"

I grew up in the north woods outside of Duluth. I have seen wolves that look like the devil with glowing eyes and a icy stare like they know they can kill you from 200 ft away. I have seen packs of them looking at me when I was out snowmobiling and I can tell you it's the scariest thing in the world.

My dad drove home one night and had to lock the brakes up and wait as a pack of 4 wolves crossed in front of him. They marched by slowly like they knew he couldn't do anything. He told me that the back on each one rose above the hood of his 73 Chevy pickup. He also said that the last one stopped and looked right into the truck at him and then diapered into the woods - that's scary *@%$
