Do European engines as such in BMW Mercedes last longer than those found in ford and Chevrolet if so is it because of different metals and piston strength engineering and design?

no, normally those vehicles last longer because maintanence is done on a more regular basis. the owners of European vehicles follow the service schedule more accuratly than American car owners. as a mechanic for 10 years i have seen this first hand.
