1080p signals are not currently being broadcast on any major network at present. Broadcasters are currently using either 1080i or 720p. 1080p demands twice the bandwidth and it is expected to be some time before they become available as on air signals.

1080p is currently limited to local sources such as Bluray and games consoles but the signal format is dependent on the content that is being played in the player or console.

What is a digital antenna?

A digital antenna is a device that allows the user to receive digital television signals from varying distances, depending on where they live. There are three main varieties of basic indoor antennas that will allow the user with a strong television signal to receive digital signals. These are the UHF, VHF and combined UHF/VHF. There are other models for homes that receive weaker signals, including those designed for placement outside of the home.

What can one do with a DTV antenna?

A DTV antenna is used to capture digital television signals. By law, all television signals in the United States must be digital, and this type of antenna is used by customers who do not subscribe to satellite or cable services.

What uses a digital signal?

Many television stations have been using digital signals for at least 30 years. They turned them into analog signals at the antenna for broadcast. Now they are simply leaving them in their original form.

How do you get digital reception by antenna with a digital TV?

I get a perfect picture on TV using an antenna. Can not get digital signal to come thru when using either a converter box or a new digital TV. I have following all the instructions carefully and can get no signal for digital. The antenna is new and hooked up correctly. Get perfect analog pictures. Why can't I get a digital picture? DTV signals are for the most part weaker than the old analog signals. Your new antenna needs to be a high gain VHF/UHF type with a built in or add on amplifier at the antenna. Don't forget to use new coax cable between the antenna amp and the TV set. Be sure the antenna is pointed directly at the transmitters, many have been moved. Sometime a rotor is a great help if the transmitters are in different direction's. If you using splitters, etc, they might need to be replaced with ones that will pass UHF (900 MHz) signals.

How are digital signals in radio broadcast converted to analog signals inside digital transmission equipment before sending the signals to the antenna for transmission?

The digital signals is not converted BACK to analog! it is transmitted in digital form and the receiver is converting it back to analog to drive the speakers. The signal from the microphone is converted from analog to digital with an A/D converter chip, digital signals consist of pulses of different lengths that is switching the transmitter on and off in about the same way as the old Morse code transmissions but at a much higher rate (millions of times higher)

Will a digital tv still receive and process an analog signal from an outdoor antenna?

No. There will be no analog signal to receive and process from the outdoor antenna. The only signal coming from the outdoor antenna will be digital. When the conversion is complete. You will need to hook up your antenna directly to the TV. Your conversion box will be worthless as far as analog to digital is concerned.

If you have a digital tv and an outdoor antennae do you need a converter box?

In the US the answer is probably not. Digital and analog TV broadcasts use the same frequencies and antennas. Digital TV is more fussy about signal quality than the older analog signals. So if you get marginal analog reception, figure on getting a new antenna for digital. The idea that there are special HDTV antennas is just marketing hype. Any antenna that gives you better digtial reception will also give you better digital reception.

Does a digital TV have a built in antenna or tuner that will pick up over the air signals without an outdoor antenna?

I have not seen any digital TVs with a built in antenna. Depending on where you live you could use a simple "rabbit ears" setup or even one with a built in amplifier if you're a bit far from the stations.

What is mode of transmission of tv signals?

The most common mode of transmission of TV signals are digital satellite and cable. New technologies allow transmission of signals by digital terrestrial TV, using aerial broadcasts to a conventional antenna. This provides a greater number of channels and a better picture and sound quality.

What is the difference between omnidirectional antenna and smart antenna?

An Omnidirectional antenna generates a beam in all directions and is defined as one "having an essentially non-directional pattern in a given plane and a directional pattern in any orthogonal plane". A Smart antenna however, often referred to as an adaptive antenna, utilises adaptive DSP based techniques and digital technology. The original analogue signals must be converted to digital form through the use of digital converters. Consequently, the nulling of a given interference and the steering of the main beam to a known direction can be achieved by changing the phases and amplitudes of the signals in individual elements of the array.

Do you still need a HD antenna on your TV if it has ATSC built in to it?

To receive Broadcast Television Signals of NTSC Analog or ATSC Digital a television antenna is needed. If the TV has ATSC built in , then a converter box will not be needed.

What is antenna role in space communication?

it receives signals and sends out signals
