Answer Jehovah's Witnesses are prohibited from celebrating birthdays. Depending on the situation, an individual Jehovah's Witness may politely accept or decline a birthday gift offered in private, but it may be better not to even offer a birthday present. EDIT: we don't accept them. but it depends on the situation and individual. if you are fully aware that the person is JW, then they can reject your gift. if you aren't it will be left as a matter of choice. so to avoid conflicts, don't offer gifts which are tied to birthdays or Christmas.

Edit: Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate secular holidays because of their Bible trained conscious. Most holidays have a pagan beginning and have no place in a Christians life. I a Witness could choose to accept a gift depending on the circumstances.

Simply put, NO they do not. Reasons being is that Mother's Day dates back to the early Greeks as a spring celebration which was a pagan celebration. It was adopted by the early "Christians" as a means to worship the "mother of god", Mary who according to The Bible was the mother of Jesus not the mother of God, but God's son whom God transferred into Mary not he himself. So in honoring such a God dishonoring holiday, a true Christian knowing it's origin would not do such which is why no Jehovah's Witness celebrate Mother's Day. Besides, honoring ones mother, father, children and etc should not have a day but should be any and everyday to the disappointment of a lot of businesses which rake in the bucks on such "holidays"

The Encyclopedia Britannica says: "A festival derived from the custom of mother worship in ancient Greece. Formal mother worship with ceremonies to Cybele, or Rhea the Great Mother of the Gods, were performed on the Ides of March throughout Asia Minor." (1959) Vol. 15, p. 849

No, Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate Mother's Day or Father's Day. They only celebrate the Lord's Evening Meal.

Maybe a Jehovah's Witness would take the gift out of courtesy, but they do not recognize Father's Day and could very well refuse it. It would be much more respectful to forgo the gift.

They can if they are given in the right manner and the gifts do not go against Bible principles.

In addition, they could not accept certain gifts as an anniversary gift.

What gifts can Jehovah Witness accept and for what reasons if any?

Jehovah's Witnesses are like anyone else. We enjoy giving and receiving gifts. With that in mind, JW's do not accept or give gifts that are associated with religious or nationalistic holidays, nor do we accept or give birthday gifts. == == Appropriate anniversary gift giving for the first, fifth, tenth, fifteenth, twentieth, twenty-fifth and fiftieth years of marriage.
