There is a very simple answer to this question: "We don't know, but it's possible"

No evidence for life has yet been found on any other planet except Earth. However, this does not eliminate the possibility of extraterrestrial life existing on planets we have never been to. Opinions on the prospects for such life are shown below. The only answer that is factually correct is "Maybe". It is impossible to prove the absence of something. Until evidence proving the existence of extraterrestrials is uncovered, the answer will remain closer to "possibly" than "probably".

Many of the greatest minds in modern science today, such as the British Professor Brian Cox (labelled as a "modern Einstein") believe that with so many billions of galaxies existing across millions of universes, it is impossible for life elsewhere to NOT exist. They believe if Earth can exist in this galaxy, then there must be other Earth-like life-supporting planets in at least some of the other billions of galaxies out there.

Additional Opinions by Contributors:

  • First, when I say "aliens" I don't mean those spacefaring civilizations in Science Fiction that come to Earth and abduct you. They could exist, but it's all just fantastic science fiction with no proof. What I mean is life outside of Earth in general. I think it is almost impossible for extraterrestrial life not to exist. It doesn't matter if we never encounter them, it's more a matter of probability than anything else. Just think about these numbers: There are about 300 BILLION stars in the Milky Way Galaxy alone. A fraction of these stars are expected to have planets that could support life. That's still in the billions. There are between 100 and 300 BILLION galaxies in the known Universe, each galaxy containing billions, sometimes trillions, of stars. How can you possibly believe that there is NO chance of life arising on any one planet, orbiting any one star, in any one galaxy? Even if you believe that God directly created life on Earth, it would be extremely arrogant to believe that He created this unimaginably vast Universe just for us.
  • Ultimately speaking, the answer is Yes; it is both philosophically and scientifically impossible for there not to be, given the infinite possibilities of Creation. However, "aliens" in the popular sense since World War II as being UFO people is quite another complex question. If you're earnestly interested in this, begin by reading all the works relative to the subject of UFOs by Dr. Jacques Vallee & by Dr. J. Allen Hynek.
  • It is likely that there are aliens. There are so many infinite universes and planets and solar systems that there must be other intelligent life. We don't know for sure if they exist, and vice versa. My thoughts are that they are likely superior to us. If they have UFOs and can travel millions of light years to find us, they probably have superior technology. But, being ignorant, conceited homo sapiens, most of us would think of them as inferior beings. We probably shouldn't refer to them as aliens - they would probably consider us aliens. Some of us would be smart enough to recognize them as normal, thinking, living beings. Who knows? They may look just like us. Or they may be like the green aliens many of us draw. No one knows the facts, but there is at least a strong probability that other lifeforms exist in the universe.
  • The usual argument for the non-existence of alien life is that none have openly contacted us here on Earth. Advanced civilizations might have good reasons for not doing so, or, as could happen with us, they may have reached a point where they gave up on space exploration. If so, they would have ceased to exist once their parent star went through its evolutionary cycle (The Main Sequence for most stars) and died; depending on their initial mass they either turn into a white dwarfs, red giants, or supernova.
  • UFO's and eyewitness testimony notwithstanding, there is no positive evidence that the Earth is being visited, or has been visited, by intelligent extra-terrestrial aliens. This is a commonly used theme for science fiction because life elsewhere in the universe is strongly probable.
  • Most likely there are other living creatures in the universe. There are something on the order of 200 million galaxies out there. So the probability exists that we are not unique and not alone.
  • One important thing to consider is the vast distances between the stars. Even if there were an intelligent technical culture of organisms in our own Milky Way galaxy, it would take other technologically advanced creatures many years traveling at the speed of light to get to us. By the time they arrived here their own home planet would have aged so much that they would not have any relatives they could remember when they returned.
  • About the only way we could be visited by extra-terrestrial beings is if they had the ability to manipulate both time and space. And the way to do that is with quantum physics. Then, maybe, our three dimensional world could be found among the million and traversed by going through the other dimensions. The current Superstring Theory suggests that there needs to be 10 dimensions plus time - the eleventh dimension.
  • If you mean to ask "Are aliens real?" There may have been evidence of aliens ranging from as small as 2 inches to 20 feet. However, many also believe that this evidence may be false in a way. Thinking of how big this galaxy, all the other galaxies known to mankind, and others out there to discover we possibly can not believe that we are the only form of live overall. Although, this my opinion and for now my answer would be no.
  • They would have to be because of all the other planets out there.
  • If you're speaking of extra-terrestrials, only in theory. None have been discovered, communicated with, etc. at this present time. There are plenty of universe and there are great possibilities that aliens live one of the galaxies like Sagittarius dwarf galaxy.
  • There are no aliens known to exist, just a bunch of anecdotes, and no matter how high you stack anecdotes, they never become evidence. We hope there is other life out there, and we consider it likely. But someone has to be the first form of intelligent life in the universe, and there is no evidence that it isn't us.

While Hollywood has made a number of nifty films about aliens, no such movie constitutes scientific proof, even if it is claimed that it is "based on a true story."

  • The most scientific and least controversial (I would say the true answer) is that there is almost certainly life out there. The odds of there not being life in the trillions of planets out there is infinitesimal. Is there life of comparable or greater intelligence than ours? Very possibly, perhaps even probably. Have they visited us? There is no proof they have, and the distances needed to overcome to visit us make it virtually impossible. Anybody who says they've invented faster than light travel needs to brush up on physics. Many people elevate aliens to a god-like stature, believing they have the power to overcome the laws of the universe, wipe the memories of vast numbers of people, and even move cities.
  • Aliens do exist and they have been visiting this earth since the beginning of mankind. UFOs and extraterrestrial visitations have been reported all over the world. Even trained pilots and personnel in Air force have seen UFOs of alien origin in the sky. There is more then enough evidence to support their existence. If your still interested in the topic, check out some of these books: * Extraterrestrial Contact by Steven M. Greer
  • I believe there are aliens out there somewhere and we just have to find them or wait until they find us.
  • The concept of aliens and flying saucers is a fanciful imaginary product of the space age threat of nuclear annihilation. And believed by confused souls looking for answers, since God's existence is cast into modern societal doubt.
  • Look at this question from a Biblical point of view. If there are aliens already living somewhere in the universe, have they already subjected themselves to God's Sovereignty? If so, they would constitute proof that his way of ruling is the best way and there would have been no reason for God to put up with Satan, and permit the consequences of allowing man's rule to show it's ultimate failure. If aliens already exist in the universe, why did God need to send his firstborn only-begotten son as a ransom for what Adam lost? If the alien creatures of planet XYZ are faithful, then he would have handled matters very differently. After all, didn't he send his son also to prove Satan a liar? To prove that a perfect man can be obedient out of love? He sent his son because this planet earth has been the scene of universal issues: God's right to rule, and the integrity of ALL his creatures. Once the issues have been settled successfully, then I can see populating the universe. After all the earth is just the beginning. It would be pious of us not to believe that God only created earth and there are so many things yet to be discovered on earth (our oceans/space ... the last frontiers.) God does have a plan for us and how do we know it doesn't involve aliens? No one can answer this question for sure and perhaps it's meant to be this way for now. Cheap magazines and rags, also TV has made so many movies about monsters from outer space and aliens that are here to harm us. Now if an alien should appear God really is going to have to interfere to save it's life before people kill them off out of fear before learning anything about them. What about Area 51 (which still exists to this day!) The truth is not out there nor in the hearts of lost men The truth is the Bible, and the Bible tells us about all creation and about all life, and there are only 4 types of life on heaven or on earth. There is God the creator who created, 1) angels (demons are sinful angels, and Satan was the first demon) 2) plants (all plants, including trees, grass and whatnot) 3) animals, and 4) mankind, the crowning jewel of creation, the only creation formed in God's image, having 3 parts (body, soul, spirit) like God with the Trinity (Body/Christ, Soul/Father, and Spirit/Holy Spirit). The only aliens that interest me are the angels who are certainly welcome in all areas of my life, and the demons, who I pray to God to protect me from, especially Satan, though a verse or two keeps him away.
  • There are probably an innumerable amount of different types of alien life forms in our universe and other universes. Some of the ones I know about are the Grays the Reptilians, the Pleiadians, and many more. You can find lists of around 100 discovered types on the good UFO/alien websites out there.
  • The question isn't "are there aliens" just look at the number of stars in our galaxy alone ponder the number of earth like planets and your getting a very high chance that life is out there, just because life developed as it did on this planet doesn't mean life can't exist in different forms, so no the question isn't "are there aliens" but rather will we meet them or are they sentient.
  • I believe that there are others out there either in solid or ethereal form, either way, I am not 'bothered'.
  • I think the government are covering it up and we have aliens on this planet and they come in peace but they think they will kill us all but that is not true and is caused by the hype in movies.
  • It is very possible that there are aliens although we still haven't got the technology to find out. There has been fossils found on other planets of plants but this was probably a few million years ago.
  • Yes, but it is politically incorrect to call them aliens. They are undocumented.
  • Statistically there almost has to be but there is no concrete evidence as of yet. People speculate there is a cover up for national security reasons. If you have an interest in the subject, read up on Roswell and Bob Lazar. he was a physicist at Area 51 who spoke out after catching the Government in the process of trying to kill him to silence him.
  • Yes but they are a million Galaxy's away. The scientists are still not sure of it.
  • yes, think about how big the universe is. it goes on forever, anyone will agree.if it does go on forever, there MUST be other life. The universe is a huge place.
  • To deny the existence of aliens would be like saying everyone in the United States of America owns a dog. Not everybody owns a dog. However, this does not mean aliens are flying around making weird designs in cornfields or flying saucer shaped space vehicles, or even abducting people. Life most likely does exist in other parts of the universe, however.

People have their believes but i think that alien really don't exist, some day we will find out but not today, so be there when they tell you.

Up to now, there has never been repeatable, testable evidence to confirm the

existence of life anywhere except on Earth. So the only answer to the question

at this time is "We just don't know".

Note that "There must be", "There has to be", "I heard ...", "I read ...", "They say ...",

"Many scientists believe ...", and "What else could it be!" are not repeatable,

testable evidence.

aliens do exist, but they are known as extraterrestial creatures, which means there is no such thing on earth, but there may be life on other planets.
