NO DOG BREED 'LOCKS' THEIR JAWS. None. It's a myth. Pit Bulls have extremely strong jaw muscles and it can be difficult to open their mouth against their will, but their jaws don't lock. The same can be said of any dog breed with a heavily muscled jaw area.

actually, English bulldogs were used as an entertainment sport, they would go under the bulls and bite them, locking theyre jaws so that the bull could not get them to let go. it is near impossible to get them to release.

within the last 100 years or so English bulldogs were changed into companion dogs and they make great pets and are very good with small children

All dogs do! But most only if they are in danger of death or if their master is in danger of death.

If trained properly then, no, a bulldog will not bite. However always remember that a dog no matter how timid or friendly can turn on anybody if provoked or if it thinks it has dominance over a person or other dog. So never under-estimate a dog because they will turn to there basic instincts.

Expert scientific studies prove that the jaws of Pit Bulls or any bull dog are no different than any other breed of dog. There is no evidence that any kind of locking mechanism exists in the American Pit Bull Terrier or any other related dog breed.

The reason everyone claims pit bulls' jaws lock, is pits have extremely strong jaw muscles and the dogs are very tenacious. When those dogs bite something, they WILL NOT let go and the jaws are almost impossible to pry apart.

That is a myth. Those dogs have a good strength in their jaws so they could hang from the jaws for long minutes but there is no lock device in them.

Yes, because they were bred to have strong lock jaws to hold on to things very tightly and to not let go until commanded to

What has more jaw pressure a staff or a husky?

the staffy has more jaw pressure as they are one of the few breeds that have lock jaw; as soon as it bites down on something its jaw 'locks' and it takes a lot of effort to open it up again think of a crocodile...they have lock jaw too Lock jaw is a myth! The truth is no one knows the answer to this question, as these two dogs would have to be tested. The so called "lock jaw breeds" do not necessary have the strongest bite. In a test between a Rottweiler, German Shepard and a American Pit bull, the Rottweiller actually had the strongest bite and the American pit bull had the weakest. Going by this, the husky is a big powerful dog, so i would be inclined to say the Husky would probably have the strongest bite.

List of dogs with most powerful jaws?

No. Dog bite strength is proportional to the size of the dog. There are dog breeds larger than pit bulls. Therefore, there are dogs with stronger bites than pit bulls.
