- Yes caterpillars do sleep.
If you watch closely when they are up on the trees they will sleep near they closest food resources, like trees plants or leaves.
- Caterpillars are way too busy to sleep. They are in a constant process of eating and growing and molting (shedding skins that are too small, so they can keep growing.) A caterpillar molts a total of five times, after which its skin is transformed into a chrysalis. After a short while, a moth or butterfly emerges from the chrysalis.
- No... Right above me is wrong. I Have a small green caterpillar and it can sleep. March.20th.2012 was when my caterpillar first slept. It crawls under a leaf and stick it's legs under the leaf. So yes, they can sleep. Sometime they may poop. iGlowers
