As a Catholic I would be wary of anyone speaking in tongues, it is not part of traditional Catholicism, like anything within religion you know if it is good or bad by it's fruits, I don't think it would be regarded as a sin, just that it would be discouraged.

Second Opinion: In I Corinthians 12:10-11, 29-31 (KJV) It says "To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. ... Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts; and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way."

Later in 13:13, Paul concludes that "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity".

That does not seem (to me) to condemm or condone speaking in tongues. Its like everything else in The Bible, you have to discern the truth in your own heart.
