However cats can almost always land one their feet, this helps they avoid most injurys from falling from heights.
No. It's an old wives tale. The reason they say that is because when they fall they usually land on their feet. Also they are very hard to hurt due to their flexibility and agility meaning they can fit through most gaps. (Unless the cat is unusually fat).
my cat is fat and it jumped off a 2 story building landed on its feet no harm at all my other cat did the same thing

The saying is based on the fact that cats are very adaptable and can often get out of situations in which you might think they would be killed. For example, they are able to fall from great heights and land, uninjured, on their feet.
