Do cigar aficianados store cigars in the plastic wrapper they come in?

Answer:

Yes. They breath just fine through the cellophane wrapper, it also helps to protect the cigar until you get to that magical moment when you get to fire it up...toasting the foot, rolling it ever so slightly... couple of firm tugs...thick billows of smoke raising in the air ... the aroma, oh the aroma... Might have to take a break here in a minute...

If you are concerned about the proper humidity penetrating the cellophane do not worry about that. I once had a defective humidity jar (won't mention the brand) I put it in my humidor with an good assortment of stogies, couple c-notes worth... the next day they were non-smokable. In one day even the ones in the bottom had absorbed the nasty odor/taste from the jar. Lesson learned - only use distilled water and a digital hygrometer.
