Removing toxins from the body does help the body to lose weight, since fat is partially a way for the body to defend itself from toxins. Some fat is a stress response to toxins, and the stresses from the acidosis caused by toxins. Fat can have a snow-balling effect as excessive weight makes removal of unwanted materials more difficult, while overall weakening the immune system; leading to even more weight gain, stress, and/or diabetes eventually.

While this method might actually help a little, I do not recommend it. There are better methods which are much cleaner and safer than this approach, and which do not compound the problems by disrupting the intestinal flora, or risking an infection.

One of the best things generally going for alternative medicine is that it is less risky and invasive, and it has been that way for reasons. The practitioners usually remember the principal: "First do no harm".
