Alligators live in some marshes in Georgia. The largest alligator population lives in the state of Louisiana, and they are found in marshy areas of other states such as Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, North and South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Alligators are the major predator of the Florida Everglades.

Because they are more temperature-sensitive than alligators, the American crocodile does not live as far north as Georgia, but is found in Florida.
