Like virtually all camera makers, Nikon's camera mount is propriatory to Nikon, but there are third party manufacturers - Sigma and Tamron are probably the most well known - who make compatible lenses.
No, unless you make an adapter for it. Surprisingly, the Nikon bayonet lens will fit the Pentax K body. Only loosely. Infinity is incorrect but if you handle it carefully, you can take a picture with it.
In my view, the nikon d40 is not really good one. The most obvious shortcoming of the Nikon D40 camera, is the absence of an autofocus driver in the camera body. What this means, is that if autofocus is important to the way you take pictures, they you are somewhat limited in the number of lenses you can use with the D40. Only about ten percent of the available lenses for the Nikon D40 have autofocus drives built into the lenses. Needless to say, those lenses are considerably more expensive than lenses without autofocus. In addition, most SLR's in this price range, allow you to take pictures in the RAW format, and the D40 is no exception. What is a bit surprising, is that when you take pictures with the RAW and JPEG format at the same time, the D40 only uses a very basic JPEG format. For a camera in this price range I would have expected better. You can have a see. http://www.dinodirect.com/
I have two Nikon cameras that I use a great deal and really like. Cannon is also a pretty good camera. I take travel photos and do landscapes and my Nikons have been very good.
I have two Nikon cameras and love them. Mine SLR came with a 18-55 lens and it is just fine for most photos. I also have the small pocket camera from Nikon that you can't change lenses, but the pictures are sharp and clear. I use them both often.
no! only out the lens
Your Nikon S9100 will not take pictures because there is a problem with the camera application.
Nikon cameras take better pictures.
You may either send your camera back to Nikon directly or you must take it to a Nikon authorized repair station. To determine which Nikon repair dealers are located in your area contact Nikon directly.
The type of battery that a Nikon Coolpix camera takes depends on the specific model. However, most Nikon models take the 3.7V 740mAh lithium ion battery.

One tends to use a Nikon remote to control a Nikon camera. This can be used when one is attempting to take a self portrait, or in conjunction with a tripod.
