It's not that parents KNOW what's best for their children, but what they THINK is best. Parenting is not inborn, so parents have to make decisions based on their own experiences and observations. Parents have a lot of responsibility when raising a child and want to make the best decisions they can to accomplish it. Besides food, shelter and clothing, parents also provide love, protection, guidance and education. I don't know of any parent that wants their child to suffer, hurt, or become a failure in life. As stated before, parents do their best to make the right decisions in raising their child.
