The laws of planetary motion mean that the closer the planet is to the sun, the faster it will orbit. Mercury orbits very quickly and in only 88 days, while Neptune (the furthest) orbits very slowly and takes around 164 years. The closer a planet is, the hotter it is (generally speaking), but other planet features can effect this. There's no real pattern in terms of size though. The four inner planets are a lot smaller than the four outer planets, but (for example) the largest (Jupiter) is only fifth in line to the sun, while Neptune is smaller yet much further out.
Planets from smallest to largest: Mercury Mars Venus Earth Neptune Uranus Saturn Jupiter Mercury is the smallest planet Jupiter is the largest planet
Jupiter is the biggest planet, while Mercury is the smallest planet.
No. The smallest and largest planets in our solar system are Mercury (smallest) and Jupiter (largest).
Of the Jovian (gas giant) planets, Neptune is the smallest while Jupiter is the largest.
mercury is the smallest planet now because Pluto's status was changed from planet to dwarf planet, making mercury the smallest planet.
is mars the largest planet,2nd largest,3rd largest,or the smallest
Yes, it was the smallest of the nine planets until reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006. Now it is the second largest of the five dwarf planets, while mercury is now the smallest of the eight major planets.
The gas planets are the largest planets in the solar system. The dwarf planets are smaller than even the smallest planets.
Mercury is not the largest of the planets in the solar system. It is the smallest planet. The biggest planet in the solar system is Jupiter, which is about 143,000 kilometers wide at its equator.
Titan is the largest moon of Saturn. The smallest of the eight planets is Mercury.
Neither. Mercury is the smallest planet, whilst Jupiter is the largest.
Uranus is the third largest planet in our Solar System, with a diameter of 51,118 km. The largest and second largest planets are Jupiter and Saturn, respectively. The smallest planet is Mercury.
