Do plants grow faster in light or dark?

Answer

Plants need light to grow, therefore plants grow better in the light.

Answer

I think they will grow faster (and taller) if given insufficient light (an attempt to "reach" the light, which might be blocked by the branches of a tree). This doesn't mean that it will be healthy.
