The tarot never lies. It is not something that can be manipulated. It can, however, be misunderstood.
The question "Do tarot cards work?" is akin to asking "What's the difference between an orange?" For what purpose is one using the cards? Are the cards being used to predict futures, to see into ones own subconcious, for card games, for role playing games, or to stimulate creativity?
Do storyboards work, comics, paintings, writing, reading, storytelling, or playing cards, do they entertain the mind?
Any thought process works in the mind for good or ill or both. Check with the medical profession for solid evidence.
As to Tarot cards, they work according to the intent of a reader in reading them and or the intent of the person to explore their thoughts or perhaps to simply enjoy a different form of entertainment.
Be cautious of the agenda of persons either way, those who believe in or those who denounce. Either way, they believe the Tarot works.
As you shuffle the cards, you implant your own particular vibrations at the moment. Whatever turns up will relate. Someone who is familiar with the symbols can talk of the significance. It is what you do with the information that is important. Of course for a more complete understanding, it helps to have use of the language you have learned from working with your dreams, the universal language of mind. We influence everything we touch or even think about. Thoughts are real. Remember to be cautious about predictions of the future because these can be changed through different thoughts and actions. We use cards sometimes only to clarify what is happening now or what we are in the process of setting up through our thought patterns. To be clear about your own thought patterns is the honesty that is the starting point.
