The Vietnam War may have been the last time US tanks used flame-throwers on their tanks. Today's hi-tech computorized weapons have largely negated the reasons for such primitive weapons.
Those flame throwers certainly look effective and devastating on television, and like ANY weapon they are deadly...but they are not nearly as destructive in real life. Especially when operating in DAMP environments; such as in a rain forest (read JUNGLE) or the snow. There's also been some "environmental protective" attention brought about by people (nations) since Vietnam...such as "un-humanitarian weapons" such as Napalm bombs, etc. Certain people don't like certain weapons used in war...and flame weapons are in that "certain category."
The Answer Above is not ACTUALLY RIGHT
Flamethrower Tanks are still used. Flamethrowers are actually not i mean They still use them in training and for demonstrations and even some countries use them for Wars that are currently active. Flame Tanks are a great use and would be needed in Afghanistan to clear out Tunnels dug in by the Enemy.
The USA stopped using flamethrowers back in 1978.
yes they use

America and China and many other places :P
Tecumseh fought in the war of 1812. That's how he made the world a better place for us to live in today. Tecumseh was a native american. He gave up his everything for us. During the war Tecumseh's death had occured. Tecumseh fought for Canada and today Canada is a free country where no one needs to worry that their child might get shot in the war, or that their family can die anytime because of the war. The war of 1812 has made a big difference in our life today. Though Tecumseh had fought in that war so there is some credit to him also because he fought until the end of the war but unfortunatley at the end he died :(
German use of Zeppelins.
It makes the country come together It revolutionized warfare and shaped the way all future wars would (and would not) be fought.
A World War II veteran. The US military doesn't issue flamethrowers anymore. In addition to the above, it should be noted that flamethrowers were used in Korea and Vietnam, as well.
No, most of the military today in the US use M-16s and I don't think the US ever used them unless they picked it up from an enemy that had one.
it was a good war
The US is not at war with Iraq.
The US Army and the especially the Marine corps in the pacific made great use of manportable flamethrowers as did many other armies,it was a great liability to wear one these as you could become the very fireball that you were trying to make your enemy, these weapons were generally used with reluctance only when nothing else would winkle out a well dug in enemy,so no special clothing was worn just standard uniform,as nothing would help you if the gas or fuel container got hit,
us, Afghanistan, Iraq

There was a very limited use of flamethrowers in WW I, due to the weight and limited range (about 20 yards). Much of the fuel is consumed before the flame gets to the target. In later years, the range was extended by the use of a high pressure compressed gas to push the liquid fuel, and by the use of thickening agents. These made the fuel more like a thin jelly than a liquid, and limited fuel being burned up on the way to the target. Contrary to common belief, flamethrowers were mainly intended for use against a fortified position, and cause death not only by heat, but by consuming the oxygen from the air inside the fortification. Flame weapons were removed from the US military in 1978 due to concerns about their usefulness and legality.
how did the civil war affect the way you live in the united states today
we still use their war tactics sorry nothing else I can think of right now
