Absolutely, positively, NO! They are gimmicks to rid you of your money. These devices have been around since the very beginning of the automobile.

AnswerThey are junk, but the placebo effect seems to be working for a lot of people. I feel that going with smaller rims and tires to give the appearance of moving faster, and causing speedometer to read higher would be better and cheaper long term (cheaper tires) . AnswerThe Tornado and Turbonator do not claim to be turbocharger substitutes. AnswerOK they don't! Why?, no matter what rpm they spin at, or what boost they claim to make, no. A vacuum cleaner in reverse will make a boost pressure of a couple PSI, will it make your car go faster? No!

No electric device will produce enough CFM for even a small car engine to benefit, I Would bet money that these pieces of crap would restrict your air flow and make your car go slower!

If you want, you can give me the money and I will partially block of your intake and you will get the same result!

AnswerThese are not electric devices, they are non-moving bent blades that spin the air as it flows past the blades. As such, they can only provide a drag to the air flow and can not increase the volume of air flow. They can however, increase the velocity of the air (depending where they are used) and that can increase the "tumble" of the air which can affect combustion efficiency.

Do they increase combustion efficiency? Not very likely unless they are used very close to intake valves of the engine and even then, the flow of air past the intake valves and into the combustion cylinder is already designed to maximize combustion. Yet, there is a possibility that at very specific engine rpms, the device could provide a small increase of power.

But the higher the air flow (at high rpms) the less likely that is because the drag on the air flow caused by the bent blades will likely reduce the total air flow and therefore reduce engine power. But from personal experience on a 2001 Mustang Cobra (4.6L 32 valve) that I once owned, I can say that the sound produced by these devices is noticeable both outside and inside the car at higher rpms and that sound could easily stimulate the driver and others who hear it and give a positive impression for the device.

I installed it just prior to and inside the opening to the intake manifold. I do not think the power increased at any rpm but it was obvious to anyone there (especially for me, the owner and driver since I knew the sound of the car very well before and now after the installation) that the sound was very impressive at higher rpms. In fact,

I added a second device under the open conical air filter (spaced about 12" upstream from the first device and put it in backwards so the air would spin in the opposite direction) and I really liked the sound. The person who bought the car later loved the unique (like a miniature Vortec centrifugal supercharger) sound too.

I doubt any added power was gained at any rpm and any loss of power (and there was likely some at the highest rpms) was small enough that I did not notice it.

AnswerYes, these products do work. I had 2 Spiralmax in the intake of my Acura Integra and i did see an increase in pick up at a higher rpm, I raced an Acura just like mine and we were dead even, i installed the units and we raced once again, I pulled him by two car lengths and kept going. However, I did not notice an increase in mileage because I had a heavy foot and was not too concerned since it is a 4 cylinder. I then installed one my 97 GT Mustang and since they roast the tires off the line I really saw an increase in pick up throughout and a HUGE difference in mileage, I was able to squeeze out and extra 50 miles to the tank and that was only because i did not want to push it and run out of gas. I highly recommend spiral max and Turbonator.

What is the difference between a supercharger and a turbocharger in a car?

a supercharger is run by belt, turbocharger is run by ex. gases.supercharger is better ........actually it depends on the motor and what kind of turbo/supercharger you put on it,so neither is technically better than the other

If you hate sugar are there any alternatives?

Stevia is actually healthy. There are other sugar substitutes but they are generally not healthy.

Does the turbonator actually help give more horsepower and fuel mileage and is it worth the money?

NO. Its garbage.Yes. The turbonator works on vacuum of your engine... de diameter is about 3 inch... and fits on many fuel injected cars...when starting your engine with the double vinned turbonator in your airtube.....the vacuum sucks air trough the 2 vins inside the turbonator..creating vortex like a hurricane..the airflow the airflow spins, and can add more air in the air intak tube.when you speed up the rpm,the vins will flow faster by the more vacuum, when speeding up.De Mass Airflow Meter widens up,more open,en the injectors will add more fuel to the airstream at that moment..The rule for all injectors is ..1 pond fuel with 15 pond air.... The ECU handles this ratio at all time. The ECU is a calulating instrument. with progammed EPROM chip.using voltages and ohms, it calculatesLAMBDAairflow.air temp...time to ignite, knocksensors against missfiring, etc. The ECU uses always this mixture... More air More Fuel.....The turbonator gives faster more air but don't disturb the ECU or AFM meter....The orignal flow of the engines vacuum is only speeded up by this vortex turbine....I have a 6 ilinder 24v motor with to airtubes... i have put in each tube this double vinned turbinator....The airflow is a little bit like a turbocharger...but a cheap way to get your engine upgraded for a little bit more power and less consumption...Hope you understand the texture i wrote...I am from the Netherlands ,and being busy tuning my road and rallycar ....Cheers Michael de Ru

What is the difference between egr or turbo?

EGR uses exhaust gases for decreasing the pollution levels. Here the exhaust gases are actually fed to the precombustion chamber or the ignition chamber. In a turbocharger, the energy of the exhaust gases is used for compressing the ambient air, and the exhaust gases are then released.

Why could a turbocharger be surging?

Compressor surge is when the air pressure after the compressor is actually higher than what the compressor itself can physically maintain. This condition causes the airflow in the compressor wheel to back up, build pressure, and sometimes stall. Common conditions that result in compressor surge on turbocharger gasoline engines are: * A compressor bypass valve is not integrated into the intake plumbing between the compressor outlet and throttle body * The outlet plumbing for the bypass valve is too small or restrictive * The turbo is too big for the application

2004 Subaru Forester xt 2.5 blows white smoke?

Head gasket is blown. Look to see if there is oil in the radiator overflow tank (white plastic tank between radiator and battery), or goopy, chocolate milkshake-like sludge in the engine oil.If there are no visible signs of oil mixing with water, another possibility is the turbocharger. The unit in the XT is water cooled, and if the seals are worn out, it is possible that coolant is leaking in the exhaust housing and exiting the tailpipe as white smoke (actually steam). If this is the case, the turbocharger will require rebuilding.

How many players are there rugby?

Its actually impossible to provide an accurate figure. This is due to the fact that there are so many unaffiliated union and league teams around the world. These include school teams local community teams, workplace teams without including those from junior levels, gender related etc.

How many people play for a football team in the U.K?

Well if its a normal match you obviously know that they have 11 starting players with 5 substitutes for league and cup matches, for European cup matches you can have 7 substitutes... Coming to the number of people for a single team varies...The entire team squad consists of around 20-30 players with young and experienced players I still could not get your question right... Hope this answers!

Why Using a Home-Based Carpet Cleaning Solution Is Better?

Home-Based carpet cleaning solutions are effectual. Whenever you select a cleaning product that you want to use on your carpet, its usefulness is certainly one of the top priorities that you need to consider. Well, if you are concerned that home-based cleaning substitutes are not as efficient as the products that you purchase in stores then you are wrong. Homemade carpet cleaning substitutes actually are really effective when it comes to getting rid of dirty marks and spots on your carpet. Ingredients which are usually used such as vinegar, dish washing liquids and ammonia are really strong when it comes to breaking down and removing stains.

Was it common to pay a substitute soldier to go to war in your place in the Civil War?

Paying a substitute. That was one of the provisions of the Union draft, and it was a very bad law. There was naturally a lot of grumbling in the ranks about well-off young men who could afford to slide out of doing their service. But the substitutes were mostly no use anyway. Why hadn't they responded to the call-up in the first place? Obviously a lot of deserters, draft-dodgers or bounty-jumpers. The Confederates did not allow substitutes, and that is one reason that their morale was higher.

What causes your turbo to make a noise at start up?

My following statement applies only to turbo charger function. The source of the noise you descibe may not be turbo charger related at, but may be low cranking oil presssure related. Turbochargers are driven by a constant stream of very hot exhaust gases. They are not equipped with conventional ball or roller bearings because the hot gases would boil the oil and cook the bearings. Instead they use bushings similar to cam bearings, which are not really bearings at all, but spacers. The oil is the bearing. It is recommended that you idle and engine for several minutes after high speed boost operation to enable the oil supply to cool the turbocharger, which is something hardly anyone knows of or follows. It is this quick hot shut off that boils the oil in the turbocharger. When you intiate the following operating cycle, the bearing dry starts and actually rotates dry for a few seconds. Over time, it become loose because it has lost it's calibration due to run dry friction. The solution is to ignore it. There is a new turbocharger somewhere in your future.

What can i use instead of helium?

You can use air but it won't float so I would recommend helium. If you suck in helium, it will make your voice sound weird.... Try it!!
