It is very common. I had a bowel movement with my first but not my second. If you go into natural labor, your body will often dump itself of any but if you have a fast labor or if you are induced there is a good chance.

no not always i had a friend who did but i have had 6 other friends who have had babys since then and they havent just try and go a few hours befor you go into labour It is really common for this to happen as you are pushing but all depends on the circumtances of your birth. Sometimes is unvoidable; but the doctors and nurses know this and this should be the last of your worries and at that moment it will be. If you did not eat much or anything before you give birth the probabilities are less. They use to give you an enema before giving birth ; but I think they don't anymore. Also is push properly using lamanza clases; this is avoidable. You will push properly and giving birth , the contractions and when or how to breath and all the tools to have a more pleasant and more control over your body at that moment can be taking care with the classes.Try this and trust me I have three sons; It helps a lot. Good luck and congrats if this is the case!!

It is possible because the same muscles and effort are used.

Don't know the exact statistics, but I have to say it is extremely high. As the baby's head moves down into and in the vaginal canal, it will press against the large intestine. Anything in there is coming out. I worked in L&D, and we kept a supply of sterile covers to the side for just this thing. As soon as it appears you are finished, a nurse/assistant- sometimes the doc or midwife- will use a wipe to wipe down your tush. Then they put the sterile cover over the whole deal. If there's time before delivery, it will all get moved away and disposed of- if not, it's covered and no problem. Nobody thinks anything about it at all, most of the staff wouldn't remember if you did or didn't even if you asked later. In the olden days, women in labor used to be given an enema for this reason when they arrived at the hospital. Problem with that was, it only worked on what was in the immediate area. Baby heads still pushed down more as they descended into the birth canal, and moms still pooped. The enema was just an added misery to the labor they didn't need, and it quit being routine practice.

It's very common, but I'm sure there are instances where it does happen if no poop comes out.
