Yes it does have a stinger but it does not lose it when it stings you. It is a hornet and since it doesn't lose its stinger when it stings you it can sting you over and over again. I have ran over a hornet nest entrance and they attacked with full force and didn't let up until a minute or so later. I ran flinging my arms and smacking them but it didn't do much of anything at all and it hurts for hours unlike wasps that don't lose their stingers either.

Yes. I got stung twice about an hour ago. Pulled out the stingers from both my hand and ankle. Usually they don't break off, so the yellow jacket can re-sting. Yes, it still stings quite a bit!

Yes they do. Killer bees are very similar to normal bees. The difference is that Afrianized or 'Killer' bees are more easily provoked and attack in much larger swarms then normal bees. Victims normally die based on the number of stings that are inflicted in a very short amount of time.

Bees leave their stinger in the skin after only stinging once. Wasps can sting over and over and do not leave their stinger.

There are huge bees burrowing in the rock wall and they dig and leave huge piles of dirt and are making quite a mess and seem to be destructive around the perennials.?

It may be a Cicada Killer Wasp, the males can be aggressive like bees but don't have stingers and I think they can bite. The females have stingers but are more like bumble bees, you really need to tick them off for them to sting

When bumble bees sting do they die?

No, they don't. Unlike bumble bees, honey bees die soon after they sting because their stingers have barbs that make it impossible for the bee to remove it, and instead the venom sack pulls free of the body, mortally wounding the bee. Bumble bees do not have barbs on their stinger, making it possible for the bee to remove it's stinger, and sting repeatedly.
