Do you ascribe failure to or with?

Failure is 'ascribed to' something or someone.

Ascribe is a transitive verb, (i.e. it must be followed by a direct object) and is usually followed by the preposition to, as in 'attributed to', 'imputed to.'

Example sentence.
"He ascribes his good health to a balanced diet, plenty of exercise, and a good night's sleep."
