Any bat can be infected with rabies, but most bats are not infected.

Like all mammals, bats can become infected with the rabies virus, but only a small portion of animals are infected. In the North and South America, the most common cause of rabies in humans over the past twenty years is believed to be from bats.

Animals infected with rabies act irregularly and may be uncharacteristically aggressive. Most rabies cases are transmitted from a rabid animal to humans through a bite, however, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has evidence to suggest some cases have been caused by exposure to airborne particles from bats, these cases seem limited to individuals entering caves with high bat populations.

SAFeTY NOTE: Never hand a wild animal. Seek immediate medical attention for all animal bites. Rabies is virtually always lethal in humans unless treated immediately. If possible to do so safely, collect any animal that has attacked a human to have it tested for the rabies virus. If available, contact animal control to collect the animal. 0.05 bats have rabies.Just to let you know

ADDITION: Doctors become concerned with bat bites not because bats commonly get rabies (they don't, as the above answer states) but because bat bites are so minor that people will a) ignore them, since there is not enough damage to go into the hospital for, or b) not realize there's a bite in the first place.

yes bats can die from rabies as well. They are usually not aggressive when they are infected with rabies but they will bite you if you touch them and make them feel that they are threatened. However, it is reported that bats that are infected with rabies virus are usually less than 5%-10% and it is a lot likely to die from something else. Having said that, I still would like to tell you that it would be wise not to touch wild animals in any rate to protect yourself from getting into unnecessary dangers. If you do get bitten by any wild animals, not just bats, seek help immediately and get the animals in for testing and observation as well. Remember, the faster the better!

In most cases no but if it does not get treated you can become sick and you might die

The symptoms of rabies.

After an incubation period that is free of symptoms that may range from 10 days to a year or more, on average from 30 to 50 days, the victim begins to suffer with malaise, loss of appetite, fatigue, headache, and fever. mare then half of all patients have pain and sometimes itching or numbness at the site of exposure. They may also complain of insomnia or depression.

Two to 10 days later, signs of nervous system damage appear, such as hyperactivity, hypersensitivity, disorientation, hallucinations, seizures, and paralysis. Cardiac or respiratory arrest may then lead to sudden death. Or else Death may be the outcome after a period of coma that can last for months with the aid of life-support measures.
