continue past a building. eg Go down the road turn left, continue past the red building and the toilets are on the right.

I think it means as the present disappears it turns into the past. So the past is still continuing as it takes over the present.

because after the object is moving, and the forces are balanced, the force trying to slow it down (like friction, or air resistance) is equil to the one moving it, so it neither speeds up nor slows...
