Yes you have to pay child support !!!!!!!!!! it is your child too . if you refuse to pay support you can be put in jail.Your income taxe refund will be seized and you will pay intrest on the money too. BE A MAN SUPPORT YOU CHILD >it is not their fault you and mom are not together . why you want to hurt your child that way? they didnt ask to be born , you knew what might happen when you screwed their mom and knocked her up. so step up be a father to your child do the right thing New Answer: Yes, Darn it! ∙ 9y agoLegally, no. You must decide whether you are morally obligated to pay support. If you decide to do so, make all the payments by check and memo them, "child support." If you decide to pay child support without a court order then you should first confirm paternity.
If you go through the court system, the court will not order child support unless your paternity has been established. The court can order a DNA test. If you know the child is yours be advised a child support order will be entered that is based on state guidelines and that will likely be made retroactive. That means you can be charged for support since the child's birth.
You can choose to make voluntary payments prior to the entry of an order but you should make certain you keep a record of proof of payments. They should be made by check with a copy kept in your file. You should write child support on the memo line as suggested above and the date for which the payment is made: "week ending 10/19/2012". If you have proof of payments they can be set off from the retroactive amount owed.
