Absolutely! First of all, The Bible does come to us through the Catholic Church, even though many non-Catholics don't seem to realize that. Second, the vast majority of the Bible is read at Masses during a repeating three-year cycle. It is wonderful to attend daily Mass and hear all of the readings, but many books are covered on Sundays over the three-year period. So even if a Catholic never picks up the Bible outside of Sunday Mass, he'll still hear a good part of the Scriptures.

As far as learning about the Scriptures, there are wonderful Catholic books available that can help Catholics to get more out of the Bible. There are also Catholic Bible study groups. Jeff Cavins' Great Adventure Bible Study is great for helping people read the Bible in historic sequence. To really know the Scriptures, Catholics need to study beyond Sunday Mass, just like Protestants need to study beyond their Sunday services.

Roman Catholic AnswerTo continue the excellent exposition above, the Sacred Scriptures were actually judged canonical or not depending on whether they were read at Mass. The Church did not actually put together the New Testament, as such, until the fourth century, and one of the criteria that they used was whether the book was read at Mass.

What can Islam learn from the Catholic Church?

Well... the only way for a Muslim to learn "from" the Church is to learn "about" it. The best way to do that is to read the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

What Scriptures did the Catholic Church change in the Bible?

Roman Catholic AnswerYou are operating with a mistaken assumption. The Catholic Church wrote the Bible, the Catholic Church decided which books were canonical (included in the Bible), and the Catholic Church has conserved the Bible through the centuries. The only ones who changed any Scriptures in the Bible are the protestants, who, after fifteen centuries of a Bible preserved by the Catholic Church came along and threw books out of the Bible, and changed the meanings of books they would not throw out.

Did the Roman Catholic Church change Scriptures that involved hell?

.Catholic AnswerRoman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the Catholic Church .The Catholic Church did not "change" any Scriptures, the Catholic Church wrote the New Testament in the first hundred years after Our Blessed Lord's Ascension, and put it together, eliminating those books which were not inerrant, at the end of the fourth century. Since that time, the Catholic Church has zealously guarded the Scriptures and does so until this day. The only time that the Scriptures were tampered with was by protestant heretics who left the Church in the 16th century, they threw seven books out of the Old Testament, using a fictious Jewish Council that supposedly occurred two generations AFTER Our Blessed Lord's Ascension, and edited the New Testament to agree with their new doctrines.

Why does the Church of Christ ignore scriptures that don't fit their traditions?

To ignore things that may affect their faith. That makes no sense. They are ignoring God's words. There are many scriptures in the Bible that say true Christians are not under the law at all...no law of any kind. The church claims these scriptures mean the opposite to what they say, and will not discuss them. The church has its traditions, and will uphold them at all costs, even over the Bible..Catholic AnswerIf you are referring to the Catholic Church, Catholics believe that the Catholic Church is what Our Blessed Lord founded to save all men throughout all time. That CHURCH wrote the Scriptures (The New Testament) throughout the first hundred years after Our Blessed Lord left His Church in charge. Then in the late fourth century, the Catholic Church, through Her pope and Bishops drew up the canon of Scripture. The Catholic Church CANNOT ignore any Scriptures, nor, for that matter, can any Scriptures not fit with Tradition. ALL Scripture came out of Tradition, and the Church, by its very commission from God must uphold both, which is why it cannot countenance the protestant heresies which ignore Tradition, and mutilate the Scriptures.

How did john Calvin want to change the church?

He believed that the Roman Catholic church had strayed away from the teachings of the Scriptures and wanted to bring the church back into line with them.

What are the two major things that Roman Catholics base their faith?

.Catholic AnswerRoman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the Catholic Church. The faith if based on the revelation of Our Blessed Lord to His Apostles, this is known as Tradition. As part of the Church's teaching, it wrote down some of this in the New Testament. Combined with the Old Testament, the Scriptures form the other pillar of Catholic faith, but the Scriptures are entirely dependent upon the Church.

What is the place of Scriptures in life?

.Catholic AnswerThe Sacred Scriptures are the "Word of God {Jesus Christ} in the very Words of God." The Sacred Scriptures serve as nourishment for the Christian life (see CCC {Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph} 141), they are a source of prayer (see CCC 2563-2654), they are a source of strength for the Church (see CCC 104, 131). They teach the truth (CCC 107). from the Catechism of the Catholic Church # 141:The Church {and individual Christians} has always venerated the divine Scriptures as she venerated the Body of the Lord (the most Holy Eucharist)" (Dei Verbum 21): both nourish and govern the whole Christian life. "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Ps 119:105, cf. Isa 50:4)
