Currently, all commercial 3D televisions require glasses. There are some concept models that do not require glasses but they are not in full production and are not considered to be market ready at present.

The future of 3D will be heading towards viewing without glasses but there is a way to go before we will see the televisions in the stores.

Most 3D televisions require glasses. Toshiba have an auto-stereoscopic model that does not demand the use of glasses but it is in the region of $10,000 currently. It's not the fist choice for most homes at that price but expect glasses free 3D to become more common in years to come.

You don't have to wear 3D TV glasses all the time if you are not watching 3D programs on your TV. You can always choose between regular 2D mode and 3D mode, and if you are watching standard 2D then you don't need to wear the glasses. You would only need to wear 3D TV glasses when you choose to watch the movies in 3D modes. To watch regular day shows or movies, you don't need to wear 3D TV glasses, but the regular 2D contents can be converted to 3D when the 3D TVs like from LG has the feature. In that case you will need your 3D TV glasses to watch them.

3D televisions do not always require 3D glasses. I have a 3D television and it has a different mode to watch regular channels and programs. Although, when viewing a 3D program they are required to get the full effect or otherwise appear blurry.
