CHeck the website of your Michigan State Government or Michigan Attorney General equivalent licensing board...Be careful to check the requirements thoroughly. A body guard is not a cop, not a security guard and may need additional training to carry out those duties, ie..being armed, confrontations, liability, etc. You may also contact a majoy "body guard service" in your state and ask for info. Many states require a license if you either directly or through a security company, provide Personal Security, for a fee, to another. Some states have no specific laws to Personal Security and some do not require any type of license if you are working for a company as one of its internal bodyguards.

The governing body for security licensing in Oregon--the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (http://www.oregon.gov/DPSST/)--doesn't have licensing requirements for bodyguards. All you will need--assuming you intend to operate armed--is an "Armed/Unarmed Professional" cirtification from the DPSST and an Oregon Concealed Handgun License which can be obtained through the sheriff's department in your county of residence.
