Most times, as a student, you will need your student card to eat in the cafe. The card is often used as a debit card, deducting the cost of your meal from your school payments and loans. If it's an emergency, go ahead and eat but you will need to pay for the meal outright. Some places will allow you to type in your personal identification number if your card is not available.

YES! They will not feed you if you do not have it unless you pay cash. Some universities such as University of Maryland, will not let you in the dining area without your card.
