If you mean buying songs from the iTunes store, then, well, you're buying something, so you have to pay for it. It isn't a fee, it's a price. There is also tax added on. Songs cost $0.69, $0.99, or $1.29. There is also a free song every week.
If you mean opening songs that you have on your hard drive on the iTunes desktop application, then no, it doesn't cost anything.

∙ 10y agoiTunes doesn't cost anything to download. You can download it off of apple.com but if you want to download a song you would have to buy it. For most cases, the songs cost $1.29, and then their are different costs to buy an entire album. Once and a while, you will see a song that is not available as a single, and only gives you the option to buy the whole album. Also, there are free song downloads every week.

∙ 12y agoYes you do need to pay if you download songs from iTunes maybe 3 dollars for 1 song there's also a program where it gives you free songs to download from iTunes but it gives a lot I mean a lot a lot of viruses so i per fer you buy the songs only.
