yes, you can motion the court for a temporary oder to reduce or stop it but then they take your taxes and either way you become in arreages so call your child support agency and let them know..In our state WI they go by the "ability to earn" and a temporoary job loss is not a substantial change in circumstances so here it is not granted. Make sure to call the child support agency though and tell them what is going on because they can get a warrant for your arrest, revoke your drivers license ect. that's what they do here

Yes, you have an obligation to pay child support, if the custodial parent has an order in place, you will accumulate an arrearage And even if they dont have a court order in place, you by moral obligation if nothing else should be supporting your child.

Not to sound harsh because I dont know your situation, regardless of whether or not you have a job the custodial parent of your child still has to provide food, clothes, etc for your child.....maybe just work at fast food, collect pop cans, whatever you have to do, your child needs two parents supporting him/her.

Hope it all works out.

Yes you do. The responsibility to pay child support does not stop simply because a person has quit their job, or lost it, or even if they are incarcerated. In some states, if a person collects unemployment, it can be used to pay child support. A tax interception can also be used to pay back child support. If no payments are being made, the obligor (the person who must pay support) may be taken into court for contempt and may end up being placed on work release as a sanction for non-payment.

You need to get it modified to what it should be based on your unemployment, or put on hold if your unemployment has run out. Work with the system and it will work with you. Free legal help is available. See links below.

Yes, if he has an income (other than SSI or public assistance). If he has no income, the court may order him to look for work.

In most cases, yes. Most state child support laws stipulate that if the non-custodial parent is voluntarily unemployed, child support will be calculated based on that parent's "earning potential."
