bad luck
I have always thought this was an American expression, but I am not certain
I AM IRISH, LIVING IN IRELAND 40 YEARS ,ALL MY LIFE.I 'VE NEVER HEARD OF THIS SUPERSTITION. THE ONLY REASON I COULD SUGGEST IS THAT IT WOULD BRING BAD LUCK TO YEAR AHEAD.POSSIBLY THIS SUPERSTITION EXISTS IN A FEW PLACES. I DON'T KNOW IT TO EXIST IN THE NORTH. I,VE RELATIVES IN REPUBLIC NONE HAVE MENTIONED IT TO ME... Another answer I'm Irish too, and not only was I always told that opening a calendar before the 1st of January would bring bad luck, I was also told that moving to a month ahead was also bad luck.
No, and the Irish aren't lucky. Invasion, famine, discrimination.
Because they just do!
It is not considered to be bad luck to wear a Claddagh if you are not Irish. In fact it is considered good luck.
Irish luck is "la chance irlandaise" in French. Now that seems to carry another meaning (see realted question), so if you mean bad luck, this is "la malchance".
In Irish it's "dheamhan mí-ádh"
It's an Irish term meaning The luck of the Irish. ádh is the Irish/Gaeilge for luck. Hope that helps
luck o the Irish... it sounds Irish hahahhaha
It's bad luck 98% of the time but when you really need it to sirvive you end up lucky.
There's no such thing as "bad luck" in the sense you mean.
