Hi this is Senator Anne Urquhart here, please read my below response on same-sex marriage.
It is the view of the Australian Government, that couples who have a mutual commitment to a shared life should be able to have their relationship recognised. Although the Australian Government does not support same sex marriage, it does support a nationally consistent framework for relationships to be implemented by the States and Territories.
My personal opinion and belief is that there is a need for an amendment to the Marriage Act to ensure that Australia remains a country that actively promotes equality, fairness and dignity for all citizens. I will support the Caucus position in any vote; however, I will work inside and outside the ALP for an amendment to the Marriage Act.
It is my belief that marriage is a commitment between two people who love each other and who wish to celebrate their commitment to one another in front of family and friends.
A:Senator Urquhart supports same-sex marriage and will lobby for it within the Labor Party. If there is a vote in Parliament she will support the position of the Labor Caucus which will be determined at the Annual Conference in December 2011.I don't think you can. You either has to be single or married to adopt. Just living together is neither. if you are in a samesex relationship and has gone through partnership might be possible though.
Anyone can do anything they want to as long as they truly want it. No, in Islam having a boyfriend/girlfriend type of relationship is not allowed whether your a male or a female and whether the bf/gf is Muslim or not. If you have anymore questions regarding the matter, just ask and I'll be happy to answer them. i gree in islam having a boyfrnd or a grlfrnd is not allowd but today no youngr generation follows it .....so if a muslim girl personlly like a non muslim boy...then it is not allowd in islam.....u cannot marry him unless he accpts islam...:)
