Does EMDR help in therapy?

Yes, but not always

Here's a weenie answer. It depends. I've found it very helpful, but in conversations with therapists they are quite clear that it 1)isn't for everyone and 2) not everyone who it would seem to be right for responds appropriately to it.

Mental health is such a wide-ranging subject, and since it's tough to really go in and tinker about to see how it all works without killing the patient, it really is a hit-and-miss thing to try therapies on anyone. I'd recommend it as worth a try if your therapist says it would be worth trying, but if it doesn't work for you, only take it that it didn't work for you, not that something's wrong with you.

Best of luck.
