All of this because the prophet Muhammad married a 9 year old. It must be understood that in that era 40 was ancient. Arranged 'marriages' were made right after birth with the actual wedding coming 10-14 years later. People became parents at very young ages (14 and younger!).

I do not believe that Islam as a religion condones pedophilia.
