According to his imdb bio, he's an expert in kick-boxing - also, as nowadays movie stars can easily afford one-on-one training for certain roles; see Matt Damon in the role of Jason Bourne, where he was meant to walk like a boxer, so he took daily boxing trainings - Statham may be trained in other martial arts as well.
He is also said to be a MMA-buff, so he might be quite familiar with grappling-type of martial arts.
