I live in Illinois and have both Medicare and Medicaid and had gastric bypass. I paid nothing for my surgery (which was in St. Louis, MO). I haven't had any co-pays either. My doctor and his staff have all been so supportive and helpful.

Yes, Medicare pay for weight losssurgeries if your doctor says you need it. Also, if you comply with their requirements.

Weight loss surgery is always available on the health service. You will need to demonstrate that you are committed to losing weight and follow the special diert afterwards. Weight los surgery is not a guarantee in itself to lose weight. If you do not follow the dietry requirements you may not lose weight. Your Doctor is going to want to be reassured that you are going to be compliant in all aspects before putting you forward for surgery
