Does New York allow spouses to have separate auto insurance policies?
NY and Auto PoliciesYou can have separate policies, but most of the time, it is cheaper to be on the same policy. A NY Insurance Company will ask the question of being married, and if there are other licensed operators in the household, regardless of if they drive the car. It is always said that if there are others in the household that they do have access the the vehicle (last car in the driveway theory). If you commit fraud, you can be denied a claim.

Changing Auto Insurance Companies Yes, Of Course you can. Just call the insurance company of your choice and ask for a quote. It is extremely common for people to shop new ra…tes upon expiration of the old insurance policy. Many people overpay for their insurance simply due to not shopping around at renewal time. In Fact, it is the most common time and is even recommended by most agents as the perfect time to shop around for a new rate is upon the expiration of the previous policy. Most Insurance companies are fully aware that renewal time is the best time to pick up new insurance customers and may offer you a discount of 5 to 10 percent to transfer your business to their company. Happy Motoring and shop that Rate to save some money. New auto insurance There might be an internal "30-day rule" within certain companies, but you can get insurance with a new company. You may have to do a bit of footwork, and it might not be with a standard carrier, but it is possible. A carrier with this "rule" is probably just wanting to verify what kind of customer you'd be, particularly in the area of premium payments (are you always on time? regularly late?). Insurance companies are, after all, businesses ... they want to know you'll be a good client. Do some shopping around, though, and you'll find coverage. Once you've established coverage, however, remember to go back and do some more shopping, especially for better rates.

If you have a clean insurance record marry someone with a DUI and tickets can you have a policy separate from your spouse?
Yes you can. When my husband and I got married, I kept my owninsurance. Answer You can but...many insurance companies require that alllicensed drivers in the household either… be named on the policy orspecifically excluded. If you exclude the spouse with the DUI fromyour policy your insurance would not cover that person if they wereinvolved in an incident in your car. If you are concerned about liability for his driving habits, abetter way would be to obtain legal advice as to car ownership withhim and to act on that.

You can "exclude" anyone from your policy. This is frequently done when a young person is of driving age and you don't want your policy to cover them because the rates would g…o up. So yes, you can exclude a current, separated, or whatever spouse or any other person from your policy.
No, in fact it is a habit by some couples (when one is accident prone, etc).
As many as you want, there is no limit.
If both people's name is on the policy, either would be able to cancel. Where I am, it is also possible to take out insurance policy on another person's vehicle. Other policie…s I'm not sure about, hope that helps.

In New York State can you exclude a spouse from your auto insurance policy if she will never drive due to a lifelong disability?
As long as you let the insurance company know that you are married and the reason she will never drive the vehicle.
Is there an auto insurance company in pa that will allow me to exclude my husband from my auto insurance policy?
I'm sure there are several auto insurance companies that will allow you to exclude your husband. You need to know what exactly this means. It means that if he drives one of th…e vehicles on your policy for any reason at all that there will be no coverage provided by your policy. In exchange for this exclusion you will not be charged anything based on his driving record. Remember that it makes no difference if you get back together for a weekend, if there is an emergency and he drives you to the hospital, if his car is torn up and you let him borrow it, there is no coverage until after the exclusion is lifted by the insurance company. You do not have the authority to lift it yourself, only the company can. If you still want to do this I recommend that you go see and independent insurance agent who represents many companies and let them search for the best rates and coverage of companies for what you want.
I know that it is easy to think you don't want to pay for the other person's insurance but you must think logically about this. You are still legally married and are liable fo…r each others debts. If you cancel their insurance and they hit someone you could be liable for the damages and injuries no matter what. And if you cancelled the insurance there is no adjuster to pay for attorneys, pay for damages, etc. I always suggest to my clients that they keep all insurance until the divorce is final. If they can't get along enough to do this then I suggest they both come in and get their own coverage as a second best alternative. Also, if the get back together to let me know.
Not if she is listed as part owner of the vehicle.
