Samsung, like the majority of manufacturers only makes active 3D tvs.

LG and Toshiba make passive 3D TVs.

Although there is debate over the better technology, manufacturers are supporting active 3D more than passive. It has had some teething trouble in its early days but recent developments have made it far more robust and the once heavy glasses are now as light as many of the passive glasses.

No, Samsung 3D TVs are active 3D TVs. Unlike passive models, the active technology allows full resolution images to be used. Passive televisions avoid switching the image from one eye to the other but at the expense of vertical resolution.

Samsung currently make active 3D televisions rather than passive. The two technologies offer different approaches to delivering 3D.

Active 3D provides a full resolution image but chops the image between the left and right eye. Some people dislike the way images are seen although others are very happy with the method.

Passive 3D uses alternate lines of the image for the left and the right eye. The image isn't chopped but the resolution is cut in half with each eye seeing only 540 lines instead of 1080. Some people dislike the loss of resolution although others prefer the smoother rendition of images compared to active.

When choosing 3D, make sure you try both technologies and make a decision based on your own preferences.

I am thinking either Cinema 3D or Samsung 3D TV but which 3D TV is better for gaming?

Cinema 3D is LG's name for their 3D television. It uses a passive system of 3D imaging that reduces resolution to half that of other 3D televisions. For the highest resolution, select the Samsung. Despite, that, it is worth viewing both brands and then you can make up your own mind about the best televisions for you.

Are Samsung 3D TVs good for gaming?

Samsung 3D Tvs are okay for gaming but before investing, make sure you try several models first. Also make sure you experience both passive and active 3D systems. Both have their benefits and you will probably find you prefer one over the other. Whichever is the easiest to watch is probably the right choice for you.

What are the things I must know about 3D TV when planning to buy one?

First, you have to understand that there are two types of 3D technologies, active and passive. Active 3D TVs are like Panasonic, Sony, or Samsung's 3D TV. Passive ones are like Vizio or LG 3D TVs. Active 3D retains full HD resolution whereas passive cuts the effective resolution down to only 540 lines. However, passive is a cheap system compared to the premium brands.

Which of 3D TV maker are making high quality 3D TV?

There are 2 different approaches to 3D TV. In one camp you have Samsung, Panasonic, and Sony who use Active 3D technology for their TVs while LG, Vizio, and now Toshiba are in the Passive camp. Passive 3D is known to be flicker-free and uses glasses that are lighter and more comfortable.

What article talks about passive 3D TV being superior over active 3D TV?

3D TVs are pretty common nowadays and yet even if Samsung 3D TV is the best selling out of the bunch, the LG 3D TV sure rated pretty well

Can you recommend an affordable and comfortable 3D TV?

All 3D TVs are priced in the same range but for less expensive models, take a look at Vizio who make some low cost passive 3D televisions. Like the more expensive LG passive televisions, they use only 540 line resolution in 3D mode but if you can live with that restriction, they are good value for money. For full HD 3D, you will need to look at sony, Samsung and Panasonic models.

Which one of Samsung or LG is better when you buy a 3D TV from either of them?

LG Cinema 3D got #1 in a consumer research. Personally, I also think LG Cinema 3D is better than Samsung's any other 3D TVs. Samsung's 3D TVs are active TVs and they use shutter system while LG Cinema 3D is a passive tv withbetter FPS technology. Basically you never have to worry about flickering images and crosstalk with a passive 2D TV. Not only is LG Cinema 3D a flicker free and crosstalk free TV, it also has lightweight and battery free 3D glasses. These 3D glasses are very affordable compared to Samsung's. If you're gonna buy a 3D TV, you might as well buy the one that's flicker free and crosstalk free.

Will lg 3d glasses work on a Samsung tv?

LG televisions use passive glasses so you will not find LG active glasses. Actually, LG has made several models of active 3D televisions, despite their current push for passive. LG glasses such as the AGS100 will not work with Samsung televisions. If you are looking for lower priced glasses for your Samsung TV, try the Monoprice website.

Do Samsung 3d TVs have better picture quality than lg 3d TVs?

In terms of spatial resolution, Samsung have better quality than LG because LG use passive technology, meaning that alternate lines are split to each eye. Samsung, Sony and Panasonic all feature 1080 line resolution compared with LGs 540 line resolution. Does that mean Samsung is better to watch? That can only be decided by you. Make sure you get to see a range of 3D televisions before making your decision.
