dogs saliva has enzymes that destroys harmful bacteria but also when a dog licks its wound its tongue gets rid of dead tissue so the wounds heal faster.
This may not have the same effect for people. All animals have certain naturally occurring bacteria that live in their mouths. These same bacteria infecting your wound would likely lead to a serious medical problem. If you want to experiment with bodily fluids on your own wound, try your own tears rather than some butt-licking, carrion-eating animal's saliva.

∙ 13y agoI don't think dog's saliva heal wounds faster and it's dangerous to use dog saliva to heal a wound for you can acquire rabies if the dog is not vaccinated. There are no chemical components that the saliva has that can improve healing.

Love your dogs like crazy and take care of them, but don't let them lick your wounds. Standard care of your wounds will work fine, and any possible benefits from dog saliva are NOT WORTH THE RISK of very serious infections that you might inadvertently get from your furry buddy.

Magically? No. However, dogs do have regenerative qualities similar to any other mammal. If you cut a dog's leg off, it will not grow back. If the dog bites his toenail off, that will grow back. The dog must be alive in order for its wounds to heal. This is crucial. Dead puppies aren't much fun.

Can you get an adult dog fixed?
A dog can be fixed at any age but it is best to have it done before the dog is four or five at the latest, because it will heal faster and not be as traumatic to the dog.
Can you put frontline on cats with open wounds?
If the skin is not broken on the back of the neck where the Frontline should be applied then it should be fine. If the wound is near this area I would err on the side of caution and wait for the wound to heal.
