The best way is to do what is known as a `hard reset'. That's simply accomplished by unplugging it for about 3-5 minutes and then plugging it back in. What this does, is cause the microchip's resident operating system to fully reboot and reacquire the satellite/cable signal. It may take several minutes for the machine to go through all the processes and you may have to manually go through the menu settings to put your personal settings (like favorites lists, etc.) into the receiver.
Unplug the power for 30 seconds.
Google search the hard reset procedure. It worked on mine.
You can reset your Gmail password for that. The reset procedure takes some steps. At the end of procedure, you can reset your password.

When the mileage is displayed, hold down the 'enter' button, you should hear a beep, and it should reset. This is the procedure to reset anything on the display.
