Does anyone know how to fix or repair the electric rear hatch opener 98 firebird?

[Edit]

Answer

I have a '99. Occasionally popping the trunk will not raise it enough to "uncatch" it. Get a 5/8" x 2.5" spring from the hardware store. Pull the liner over the catch. Hook the ends of the new spring into the coil ends of the old spring. Might have to bend the hooks of the new spring to get them in. It helps the old spring to pop the catch better. A fix to A hatch opener problem; maybe not to yours tho....
