This answer is individual and depends on your particular body and any existing health conditions. Some people can drink Coca-Cola without any uncomfortable side effects while others may experience an upset stomach after drinking the beverage. It is possible that the carbonation in the beverage the caffeine and/or the sugar content can all contribute to an upset stomach. Here are some signs that drinking Coca-Cola may be causing your tummy to hurt:

  • Bloating
  • Stomach cramping
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea

If you experience any of these symptoms after drinking Coca-Cola it may be a good idea to stop drinking the beverage and see if your tummy feels better. Your doctor can also provide more advice regarding how this beverage may affect your individual health.

As in "cola" or cocaine? Cola beverages contain caffeine which can increase the production of stomach acid. It's not a good idea to drink cola beverages without a having a meal. If your family is likely to have stomach problems, cut back on caffeine drinks.

Too many soft drinks can mess up your electrolyte levels and cause metabolic problems. Furthermore, the high fructose corn syrup in many soft drinks has been shown to have a detrimental affect on the body.

Depends on how much Coca - Cola you drink. ..If you drink a very - very large amount of Coca - Cola every day; it's likely that the acid in the cola will eat a hole in your stomache. ..It is best to only drink it moderately in small amounts ( like one or two cans a day ).

To be honest it isn't the flatness of the Coke that helps, you should do it with the bubbles, the carbonation has been known to calm stomachs, on top of it Coca-Cola was originally designed to settle stomachs, the only difference between then and now it lakes the actual cocaine that put in it at one time.

I hope this helped some!

Most soft drinks contain acids, and some are very corrosive. If the phosphoric acid in Coca-Cola is strong enough to dissolve corrosion from the terminals of your car battery, it is strong enough to dissolve the tissue from which your stomach is made.

The reason your stomach is not digested when you eat, is that the stomach lining contains mucous membranes that first secrete a protective coating before releasing hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes for digestion. This coating keeps your digestive acids from touching the stomach lining. These coatings are not endless, but will last long enough for a meal to be dissolved into chime, so it can pass into the small intestine for additional digestion and absorption.

The lack of nutrition in soft drinks and the lack of carbohydrates in diet drinks do not adequately trigger the release of the protective mucous, so if acidic soft drinks are consumed into an empty un-coated stomach, the stomach itself is attacked by the acid in the soft drinks. This same thing can occur when consuming coffee and citrus juices.

If you must have soft drinks (I do not) or any acidic drink (coffee, tea, or juice), first eat a little something containing carbohydrates, fats, or proteins to trigger the release of mucous. This is your stomach's only protection, and continued abuse of your stomach can lead to ulcers and erosion of the esophagus that can lead to esophageal cancer.
