What is a good cat repellant?

One way to keep cats out of your garden is the following: Every time you make a pot of coffee, set aside the used coffee grounds until they are dried out (you can continuously use a plastic container specifically for thisa purpose). One the used coffee grounds are dried out, take them out to your garden and spread/sprinkle them in and around the area where you don't want cats going. The extra benefit of this is that the used coffee grounds have certain nitrates in them that plants love and therefore they are a good fertilizer as well.

How to Make Plant Fertilizer?

With the wave of green technology, one thing that has gained a much higher profile is homemade plant fertilizer. Plant fertilizer is great for the environment but homemade plant fertilizer is even better and it saves the gardener a good deal of money that can be spent on other things, like food to combine with the vegetables they will grow to create delicious meals for the entire family. The first type of plant fertilizer that can be made at home is epsom salt plant fertilizer. the only things that are needed to make this are one tablespoon oepsom salt, one gallon of cold water, and a watering can. the first step in making this substance is to combine the water with the epsom salt. the second step is to use this salty solution with the watering can to water all of the plants. This should be repeated once every month for the best results. The reason why this works is that epsom salt has magnesium and sulfate in it. Both of these substances are vital nutrients that plants need to grom healthy. Houseplants, peppers, roses, potatoes, and tomatoes especially love magnesium and will respond very well to this homemade plant fertilizer. Another thing that can be easily made at home is coffe ground fertilizer. the only things that are needed to make this are a nice cookie sheet, a read newspaper, and coffee grounds. the first step is to line the cookie sheet with the read newspaper. Second, the coffee grounds should be spread across the sheet and allowed to completely dry out. The third step is to sprinkle the dried out coffee grounds over the bases of all the plants that love acid. some of these plants are roses, azaleas, rhododendrons, and even blueberries. It is important to take care not to use too many of the dried coffee grounds. the plants can get too much of the good acid. Coffee grounds contain nitrogen, potassium, and magnesium in large quantities. These are all very important nutrients that help plants grow big and strong. they also help to maintain the soil's acidity. many people think that plant fertilizer is something that is just bought at the grocery store, but these home made fertilizers and other such substances can actually be more effective thatn what people purchase at the store. they are also much cheaper to make. most people have coffee grounds and epsom salt lying around their homes for other purposes. by using these things for plant fertilizer, it saves them from having to make another trip to the gardening or grocery store. homemade plant fertilizer is very useful.

How can coffee grounds be used as fertilizer?

Coffee grounds contain substantial nitrogen and potassium, both important for plant growth. They also includes many other trace minerals and carbohydrates. This also makes it a good fertilizer. But since coffee grounds lack phosphorus (used in plant food for flowering plants) it is better for use on non-flowering shrubs, foliage plants and grass than flowers. For "casual" use, let them dry first (otherwise they can develop mold and that's not helpful for plants) and then work them lightly into the soil. If you compost, just dump them into your regular compost bin; they have a carbon-to-nitrogen ratio of 20:1, about the same as grass clippings. After used to make coffee, grounds contain up to 2% nitrogen. They are acidic with a pH of between 3.0 and 5.0, making them perfect for mulching rhododendrons, azalea and other acid loving plants.
