Maybe so. But I would be safe and stick with the kind they give you. You know, not all batter will cook under a light bulb:) But I think you can! I tried it and it works! Just put 3 tablespoons of milk and 3 tablespoons cake mix, spray pans, then bake for 15-20 minutes.

Yes, some form of heat is required to bake the cakes. However, it need not be excessively hot. The Kenner "Easy Bake" toy ovens first sold in 1963 (and still sold by Hasbro) used the heat of a large incandescent light bulb (and later a small heating element) to cook small cakes. There are some microwave (domestic versions) taht can also cook the cake mix. The draw back is that over cooking makes the cake centre feel stale.
