Flaxseed oil is popular among most weight lifters/bodybuilders because for the ones that do eat healthy because they wanna also look the part of the bodybuilder, they typically eat a lower carb diet, or lower fat diet, high in protein...it varies from individual to individual but back to the main point, flax seed oil is used because it is a very healthy fat comprised mainly of Omega 3 fatty acids and Omega 6s as well. Supplementing omega 3s has been shown to help reduce inflammation, which could be beneficial in theory for helping muscle recover, and it's also good for burning fat believe it or not. By consuming this healthy fat, you allow your body to use it at a cellular level and burn the fat you don't need, assuming your burning enough claories through out the day. Omegas (from what I've read) have also been linked to helping focus and "mind" power sort of speak...
