There is certainly some debate as to whether it is the disease itself, the treatment of the disease or both that suppresses the immune system. There is no debate that a Crohns patient is in fact susceptible to a variety of other ailments during a flareup of the disease. The body is dealing with fighting Crohns and is weakened by that process and therefore open to other infections and problems. Typical treatment includes the use of steroidal drugs which further compromises the immune system.
My answer would be Yes. Having Crohns does make you immunocompromised.
